Royal
Enfield Himalayan will be available for bookings and test rides
from March 17. Royal Enfield Himalayan is equipped with an all-new LS 410,
single cylinder, air-cooled engine with overhead cam and counter balancer shaft.
Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, this 411cc mill churns out 24.5bhp of maximum power
at 6,500rpm with a peak torque of 32Nm between 4,000 to 4,500rpm.
Overview
The oldest production motorcycle brand in the country, Royal
Enfield has been famous for bringing in distinct motorcycling delights for its
audience at regular intervals. The latest bike in news from the manufacturer’s
stable is the Royal Enfield Himalayan that is based on the adventure
tourer platform.
Royal Enfield Himalayan houses a 410cc,
single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that comes mated to a five-speed
transmission system. The engine will hopefully churn out a net power of
somewhere around 28bhp with an expected torque of 40-44Nm. The bike runs on
especially designed adventure-styled tyres of size 19-inch and 17-inch for the
front and rear end respectively. The suspension system has been tuned
specifically to conquer the terrains with ease and comprises of long travel
telescopic forks upfront and a mono shock absorber at the rear. Royal Enfield
Himalayan decelerates with the help of dual disc brakes equipped at the front
and rear.
Talking of the body styling, the bike shares its aesthetics with a traditional adventurer tourer motorcycle. The front gets a rounded headlamp with a taller and wide clear windshield. The highly raised front fender conveys a message of true adventure biking. Furthermore, the tyres have been given a unique off-road tread pattern that ensures a good grip on any kind of surface. The bike has a curvy fuel tank with split, step up seats that comes well-padded and neatly stitched. Coming to the rear, Royal Enfield Himalayan sports a luggage carrier and saddlebag holder that further enhances its adventure appeal and looks good as well.
The bare athletic end at the rear keeps the adventure and off roading spirit up and looks fascinating as well. A rectangular tail lamp unit has been tucked neatly under the carrier that looks fascinating. Design
The front profile of Himalayan gets inspired from a traditional
adventurer tourer machine that has been crafted to function in all kinds of
surfaces. The rounded headlamp and the bigger clear windshield gives a true
adventure identity to the bike. The long travel suspension and the raised front
fender ensures that the fun never goes out of stock in off-road biking.The
curvy fuel tank offers a good riding posture and looks decent, enhancing the
overall body profile. The RE Himalayan sports a split, step up seat that comes
thickly cushioned and offers a top notch comfort to both, rider and pillion.
The upswept silencer looks sporty and produces an impressive grunt in low rpm
range. The rear end features a rectangular tail lamp with naked raw appearance
that is witnessed by a raised rear fender. The instrumentation of the bike is
done impressively comprising of three dials. The readings show in an analogue
plus digital manner about speed, rpm, remaining fuel and the usual telltale
lights.

Performance
Royal Enfield Himalayan has been loaded with a 410cc,
single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that comes mated to a five-speed constant
mesh gearbox. The torquey mill will hopefully churn out a net power of 28bhp
with an expected torque of 40-44Nm. The engine has been tuned in such a way
that it will have a low noise vibration harshness (NVH) level in comparison to
the ordinary RE 350cc and 500cc mills. The ignition unit will be the digital electronic
ignition system that promises an undelayed ignition.
Braking & Handling
The Himalayan runs on reliable and grippy adventure styled tyres
that come mounted over 19-inch and 17-inch wheels at the front and rear end
respectively. The braking is done by durable disc brakes at both ends that
works fine in all conditions. The suspension system comprises of telescopic
forks upfront and a strong adjustable monoshock at the rear that easily gulps
down the hurdles and road bumps with ease.
Safety Features
Royal Himalayan has a powerful 12V-35/35W headlight at the front
that gives an ample of vision at nights and prevents any hazard. The disc
brakes equipped at the front as well as rear offers a better bite and proves
beneficial in case of an emergency. The twin rear view mirrors keeps the rider
aware of traffic approaching him from behind. Furthermore, the luggage carrier
and saddlebag holder helps in accommodating ample of goodies on the go. All
these safety and convenience features make the RE Himalayan a fun-filled yet
