Expected Launch Date: Mid of March 2016
Estimated price: Rs.6.00 lakh- 9.00 lakh
The grant new
launch of the year will be the all-new and much awaited Maruti Suzuki Vitara
Brezza / YBA compact SUV. The new car will go up against the Ford Ecosport,
Renault Duster and the upcoming Hyundai ix25. To keep a check on price, the YBA
is said to be based on the existing Maruti Suzuki Swift platform and would
qualify for the sub-4 metre excise benefit, helping it to be priced between Rs
6-9 lakh.
Going by the rendering image based on the spy pictures
of the new Maruti compact SUV (code named as the Maruti YBA), it would sport a
robust and beefy body styling as seen on the Maruti Vitara Brezza concept. The
front has a chunky grille design with a prominent Suzuki badge in the centre.
The sleek headlights are complimented by LED daytime running lights and a set
of fog lamps. The side profile is similar to the Vitara Brezza, except the
roofline which does not drop as drastically as on the concept car to
accommodate better headroom for rear passengers in the production version.
Also, the wheels appear to be 15-inch which are practical due to their higher
profile, with five-twin-spoke alloys.
The
Maruti YBA SUV will have good ground clearance and is expected to be more
spacious than the Ford EcoSport. The cabin design could be similar to the
Maruti Suzuki Swift and would have features like a Bluetooth-enabled music
system, multifunctional steering wheel, electrically adjustable and folding
wing mirrors, reverse parking sensors. Safety features such as ABS, EBD and
front airbags could also be part of the optional features list.
It will also be offered with the same engine
options as its hatchback siblings. The YBA will be launched in both petrol, as
well as diesel variants. That means, the YBA will be introduced with the
1.4-litre K14B petrol unit that is also seen on the Ertiga, and makes 95PS and
130Nm. The Maruti Suzuki YBA will also come in diesel form with a 1.3-litre
DDiS unit that produces 90PS of peak power and 200Nm of torque.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara
Brezza is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh for
the top-spec diesel variant when it is launched later this year. It competes
with the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300 in the Indian market.
